Audition Requirements:
Please prepare up to 32 bars of a song in the style of the show that showcases your voice and your personality/acting skills. Singing from the show is fine. You may also be asked to since from the score or do a cold reading from the script. There will be no dance call.
An accompanist will be provided. Audition candidates should bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key,a resume and headshot, and any knowledge of all upcoming potential rehearsal conflicts.
* Please note: If you are interested in the role of Amalia, please be familiar with the end of “Vanilla Ice Cream.”

Synopsis:
From MTI: Set in a 1930s European perfumery, we meet shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don't see eye to eye. After both respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves... and all the twists and turns along the way!
Character Breakdowns:
*All roles are available. All genders/stage ages are suggested only. If you feel you are right for a particular role, please come out. We are seeking 12-14 cast members.
Amalia Balash – Female, 25 – 35 - Soprano – The epitome of the “quirky ingenue.” Amalia is smart and outspoken, and has probably scared away a few suitors who would prefer a more traditional gal… yet she is still a romantic. Must have a dynamic voice and strong comic acting chops and physicality.
Georg Nowack – Male, 25 – 40 – Baritone – The sweet-charming-nerdy but cute-nice guy who manages the Perfume Shop. Dedicated to his job and his family of co-workers. A romantic. Strong singer, animated actor, doesn’t need to “dance” but must move well.
Ilona Ritter – Female, 30 – 40 – Mezzo/Belter – The unlucky-in-love cashier at the Perfume Shop. She lies about the men she dates (and her true age.) She is lovable and adorable, and the audience is always rooting for her. Strong Belter role with tons of sultriness and personality. Must be comfortable with 4-part harmony.
Steven Kodaly – Male, 30 – 45 – Tenor – The slick and deceptively charming womanizer who woos Ilona and causes havoc at the Perfume Shop. Great Actor/Singer with lots of smarmy personality. Must be comfortable with 4-part harmony.
Ladislav Sipos – Male, 50+ - Baritone – A clerk at the Shop who is constantly fretting about his job security. Dedicated to his co-workers, and let’s his wisdom come out when it’s necessary. Strong Actor/Singer who is comfortable with 4-part harmony.
Mr Maraczek – Male, 50+ - Baritone – The beloved owner of the Perfume Shop. Devoted to his business and his wife. Suffers a near-tragic mental health incident in the story which requires an Actor of range. Strong Singer/Actor.
Arpad Laszlo – Male, 15 – 17 – Baritone – The bicycle delivery boy for the Shop, who aspires to become a salesman one day… and marry Ilona. Has eager and sincere “Newsies” type energy. Strong Actor/Singer who is comfortable with 4-part harmony.
The Head Waiter – Male/Female, Any Age – Tenor/Alto – Comic role that gets a show-stopping solo number. Strong comic actor who sings and moves well. This Actor will also double as a Shopper at the store (with additional solo material.)
Keller – Male/Female, Any Age – The Private Investigator hired by Mr Maraczek. This Actor will also double as a Shopper and Restaurant Patron.
Woman 1, 2, and 3 – Any Age - 3 Ladies with strong Acting and Singing skills to sing featured solo and harmony parts in multiple scenes at the store. Will also double as Restaurant Patrons and the Busboy.
